This pet grooming tool is the best grooming tool I have ever used. I have a Bernese Mountain Dog, Lupin. Berners have a double coat. The undercoat is thick and short. The top coat is long.
I love it. The first time I used it, a dog park friend asked me if Lupin had lost weight. He hadn't. I had just combed his fur with the double sided rake. It gets huge amounts of fur, including a lot of the soft undercoat. I suspect Lupin thinks he's being petted and scratched when I use it. Only drawback is there is no ejector. But removing fur after each stroke is easy. This is the BEST fur comb for dogs with a double coat.
This is by far the best tool I've ever purchased. It actually gets to my cat's thick undercoat. I have the biggest Furminator but it doesn't begin to touch the fine undercoat fur. Thanks for making such a great product! I'm very pleased and so is Rudy!
Super happy with this purchase!
I've never used one of these before, but a kitty I petsit for had developed some SERIOUS matting that looked uncomfortable for her and became even worse on my 2nd day with her, so I got this ASAP while the family were on vacay.
I was trying to avoid the inevitable scissor bald spot butchering I inevitably end up doing with my own longhair cat, and I think this tool really did wonders!
I had no idea how it would go & kind of thought it would take hours and/or the mats wouldn't even come out but it only took 10-15min (not including some break time for kitty comfort), left minimal razor marks in the fur, and left majority of the good fur behind when I was half expecting bald patches. It was awesome & happy to keep using it for my own cat!
I have a 20 year old cat that can no longer go to the groomer due to seziures brought on by the noise from the clippers (yes, even the "silent" ones). This brush was a lifesaver! She hates being brushed & trying to get her belly especially was dang near impossible. Next thing I know, her whole belly had lots of pretty bad mats. Although she still hates being brushed, we did little 5 minute sessions, and the mats came off so easy! No pulling too hard, no over working the same spots. Even for a cat that wasn't excsactly having a great time, it was wonderful! I've tried every kind of soft brush, rake brush, mat combs, even silent clippers over the years. However, this rake-brush has by far been THE BEST at removing cat mats!
I also use it on my 5 year old Norwegian Forest cat, holy hair!!!
I really don't think you will be disappointed if you try it. I am so happy I bought this and wish I knew about it sooner!
This is my long haired beast, Dutch. She's the first dog I've had that's had long hair. That being said, this was my 6th or 7th dog brush purchase. Beacause I've been looking for something that takes max amount of undercoat in little time, and so she doesn't fight me. The furmanator worked fine and got a good amount of hair off Dutch. But she fought me the whole time and it would poke her and make her uncomfortable. This brush! Its amazeballs!!! She barely fought me because it didn't poke her or hurt her. And I could even brush her fast because I didn't have to worry about sharp tines sticking her. typically it would take me 20 minutes to get off Dutch with another brush what it took me 10 minutes to get off her with this one. So if you're like me and have bought a ton of brushes, looking for the right solution... then you've found it!
If I could give higher rating I would! Really made my day grooming a guard Pyrenees so much easier as she has never been groomed before. WILL BE GETTING ANOTHER AND TELLING EVERYONE ABOUT IT!
This rake is wonderful. It pulls out loose hair so efficiently. One side has fewer hooks than the other and is useful for starting on the coat. After you have removed a good bit of hair with that side you can flip over to the other side where the hooks are closer together and that works well for pulling off even more hair. The rake is sturdy, well made and fairly comfortable to use. The only thing that I could complain about is that the fur is difficult to remove from the rake. As long as a lot of fur collects on it it's easy to remove as a clump but when you start getting only a little fur off the dog it becomes more difficult to remove from the rake. Just FYI I recently read about a trick to help with the ease of brushing/removing loose fur and I tried it with this rake. If you spray on leave in conditioner, fur detangler or shed reducing spray before you begin grooming (before or after a bath, in between baths, wet or dry coat) and as you work it will help in several ways. It helps the tool to move more smoothly with less drag as you brush through the coat. It also helps keep the fur from floating around in the air. The fur comes off with less pulling on the dog and as a bonus these sprays usually smell really nice and help deodorize the dog. It also makes them nice and shiny. (The little charm that came with it this rake is awfully cute.)
I bought this tool to groom my tortishell cat with medium length hair. She mats very easily, especially in the fall/winter. I found this tool isn’t good at removing mats - it pulls to much. However, this tool is great for regular maintenance: it easily removes hair without tugging. She also tolerated this brush really well. I don’t foresee any more issues with matting with this tool on hand!
A police officer actually introduced me to this amazing tool.
My Irish Wolfhound LOVES it and oh my gosh with the summer coming, the winter coat is going. The picture shown is one of many clumps of undercoat was removed from a dog that gets combed two to three times a day. That pile is only TWO strokes! Quality product with high end materials.
The brush has two sides to it, one has 9 bladed teeth and the other has 17. The picture is from just the 9 teeth side on the first pass. The volume of fur coming out was crazy and after I took the picture I used the other side of the brush and pulled out almost as much again. The cat, who hates to be brushed normally, loves this rake. Now every other day I bring out the rake and she is happy to be groomed. Now I pull a little bit of fur each day, but she is already much happier and her fur is much better.
We have a long haired cat and we have been brushing her daily with a regular brush(which she didn't like). We were starting to get mats though and I wanted something to help cut them out. I had a three-blade style dematting comb, but it was too much work and it was only making the cat upset. On a whim I picked this tool and I love it. I haven't seen this much fur/hair on an animal since I helped a friend brush her Husky. Attached is a picture of the first few minutes of brushing (along with a cat tax picture).
This comb is amazing! It's a lifesaver!! We have a bichon and he hates being dematted. Unfortunately he get's matted very easily so we have to put him through the pain of dematting every few days. Poor things yelps when we demat him :( This comb helps a lot! When we demat him, he seems to be in 80% less pain! I was researching other similar combs but like the fact that this one is smooth at the bottom so that I don't have to worry about mistakenly hurting my pup.
I don't write many reviews and this one is even unsolicited. My elderly neighbor wasn't able to take good care of her long hair cat and she bagan to pelt. (One huge mat) I adopted her and began the process shaving her carefully with a grooming shaver. I am far from a professional, but YouTube is a lifesaver. I got most of the mat (90%) off but she tired of this after doing parts of it over 2 days and was getting very feisty. I ordered this comb and WOW! She loves it, and her hair is starting to look better after one comb out. I learned that when I would get to a mat, to gently wiggle the comb and slowly pull the hair straight out, instead of at a combing angle, she let me know if I was doing it wrong. She has two areas I need to get at again tomorrow, but her hair! Her coat is looking shiny, removing all of the old under coat. This is probably the most useful tool I have ever purchased for my animals. I'm buying another, just incase this one gets lost. I combed my dogs as well. They have a clipper cut, but I still got a fair amount of undercoat from them as well. Just go slow. Initially it seemed like a love/hate deal but within 5 minutes Miss Diva couldn't get enough. I am so happy. Update. Photos of day 4. I am still getting hair out of her undercoat. One swipe through her coat still gets at least this much in the comb. The pile doubled before we were done for the night. She LOVES it.
I have 2 Newfoundlands and the summer shed had just begun. They shed faster than my daily vacuuming can keep up with, but the summer shed made it infinitely worse. I wish this brush were wider with more teeth to the comb, but it is still a great product. In about an hour I had pulled off a pile of hair as big as my 150lb puppy. He is happier and cooler, and I am happy that all that fur is not on my floors, clothes, furniture, and walls!
I'm new to the pet grooming game and I recently rescued a Persian cat of which needs constant grooming. He came with some matting and I tried scissors and even pet hair clippers but was afraid I'd cut his skin. This tool worked as advertised and myself and my cat Fatty are very pleased.
